Positive COVID Case 9-3-20

USD 257 and SEK Multi-County Health Department

RELEASE STATEMENT ON POSITIVE COVID-19 CASE

September 3, 2020

Today, the Iola-USD 257 district was notified by the Southeast Multi-County Health Department (SEKMCHD) that a student at Jefferson Elementary has tested positive for COVID-19. In cooperation with the SEKMCHD we are following tracing protocol and only individuals in close contact with the student will be notified by the SEKMCHD.

The individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 and any close contacts will not be allowed to return to school for at least 14 days from the last contact at school.

Individuals who need medical care should call their medical provider to report their illness prior to seeking care at a clinic, physician’s office, or hospital. Parents of students exhibiting flu-like symptoms or staff exhibiting flu-like symptoms are asked to contact a school nurse, local health authorities or the SEKMCHD.

The district is closely monitoring this situation and will notify families if any additional actions need to be taken in the near future.

Sincerely,

Mr. Stacey Fager

Superintendent
