July 15 Update

July 15, 2020

The Governor issued an executive order today that delays the start of K-12 schools until after Labor Day.  Once we have additional information on the specifics of that order, we will let you know.

Enrollment will continue in buildings as follows:
August 4 10:00-8:00
August 5  10:00-8:00
August 6  8:00-12:00

USD 257 plans to encourage face-to-face instruction for the 2020-2021 school year, however we will also offer a “Remote Learning” option for parents who do not feel safe sending students to school during the pandemic.  Your child will still have to be enrolled in USD 257 and more accountability will be required by KSDE than last spring.  As we know more information on this option it will also be released.

KSHSAA believes participation in school and school activities is critical for the students of Kansas, and we strive to provide these opportunities for students this fall.

This Friday (7/17) the KSHSAA had planned to distribute considerations and guidance for all fall activities to take place starting August 17. With the announcement today (7/15) from Governor Kelly, KSHSAA will not release any information on Friday. Rather KSHSAA will go back and look at models and plans that are in place with a delayed start and release information when appropriate.

Please be patient as we navigate through this process. As we have more information we will update our District and school Facebook pages, Twitter, and our Iola USD 257 School App.

Thank you for your continued support,

Stacey Fager
